Manager of Development and Growth, Part-time (20 hrs/wk)

Organization Overview: Kitchen Possible is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building empowered mindsets in kids through cooking. Our hands-on cooking programs teach valuable life skills, build confidence, and inspire resilience in children while fostering a sense of community and creativity. We partner with community centers in historically under-resourced Chicago neighborhoods to provide these transformative experiences.

Position Summary: Kitchen Possible is seeking an enthusiastic, driven, and strategic professional to join our team as the Manager of Development and Growth. This role is pivotal in expanding our impact, strengthening our relationships with key stakeholders, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our mission. Reporting to Kitchen Possible’s founder, this person will oversee two primary pillars of responsibility:

  1. Funding/Development

  2. Community Relationship Building

Key Responsibilities:

Pillar 1: Funding/Development

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan to achieve revenue goals, aligning with organizational priorities and growth strategies.

  • Donor Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic partners to foster long-term support.

  • Grant Management: Research, identify, and apply for relevant grant opportunities to secure funding for Kitchen Possible programs. Manage the full grant lifecycle, including reporting, compliance, and relationship stewardship.

  • Empowering Menus Fundraiser: Lead the planning, execution, and growth of our annual Empowering Menus Fundraiser, ensuring its success as a cornerstone of our fundraising efforts.

Pillar 2: Community Relationship Building

  • Partnership Management: Serve as the primary liaison between Kitchen Possible and its partnering community centers, ensuring alignment, collaboration, and mutual benefit.

  • New Program Opportunities: Build relationships with prospective community centers and assess opportunities for future program partnerships.

  • Neighborhood Engagement: Develop and nurture relationships with local organizations, leaders, and stakeholders in the neighborhoods we serve, leveraging these connections to deepen our impact and visibility.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years proven experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, and donor retention.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated success in grant writing, reporting, and donor cultivation.

  • Project management experience, with a strong attention to detail and timelines.

  • Passion for youth development, community building, and the mission of Kitchen Possible.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small, dynamic team environment.

  • Familiarity with the neighborhoods we serve or similar communities is a plus.

  • Applicant must live within the city limits of Chicago, IL

Compensation and Benefits: This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) with a competitive rate of $42/hour. Kitchen Possible offers flexible work arrangements and professional development opportunities. This position is remote with an expected 10% in-person meetings.
